VANA contributes to the work of reducing administrative burdens for businesses
We are now a little over a month into the producer responsibility for packaging, and at VANA we are proud of how well the transition to operation has gone.
At the same time, the phones in our member service are ringing off the hook, as producer responsibility is still an unnecessarily complex and time-consuming task for many companies.
Recently, we have talked to several hundred companies and gained unique insight into where the pain points are – and we are happy to share our experiences and suggestions for improvements.
Therefore, we are pleased that the government has established a new working group to find solutions to the administrative challenges. VANA does not participate directly, but actively contributes through our founders, who represent the companies in the work.
Among the challenges we have pointed out are:
- unclear rules regarding who is covered by producer responsibility
- deadlines and processes that complicate financial planning
- an overly complex compensation system for commercial waste
- unclear requirements for eco-modulation and reusable packaging
- unclear rules for export
At VANA, we desire simpler processes, earlier clarifications, and better coherence between regulatory requirements, EU rules, and the reality of businesses. Therefore, we fully support the work to simplify and reduce administrative burdens – for the benefit of both the environment and the business sector.
